Through the years, I have rarely found amateur players with any knowledge of the importance of the lie angles of their clubs. Most just went out and bought the latest and greatest without being fit. Most players, even with their new equipment, still struggled to keep their shots on line but why? Their lie angle was off sometimes as much as 3 degrees. So what does that mean exactly?
Look at your golf club and put it down as if to hit a shot assume the club is a foot with a heel and a toe. The heel being where the shaft connects to the club. When you sole your club is the toe sticking up? The heel sticking up? What happens when you hit a shot?
If the toe is up, the heel will dig into the turf and close the club face and make your shots go left. if your toe is up, your shots will go right.
No matter how much range time you put in, if your equipment is not right, you will continue to struggle with your game, no matter how good your equipment is.
Please reach out for fitting advice, lets get your shots straightened out.
Next up, loft, shaft flex, grip size and length.
